Ida A. Grice

CONNEAUT - Ida A. Grice, 85, of Liberty Street, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital, Conneaut.
Born Aug. 27, 1917, in Conneaut, she was a daughter of Delano S. and Mae J. (Jones) Gruey and was a lifelong resident of Conneaut.
She was a graduate of Conneaut High School and attended Spencerian Business College, Cleveland.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at Newberry's, a cashier at Loblaws and was a secretary for Farmers National Bank in Conneaut, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ and enjoyed golf, playing cards, reading and, most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Charles E. (Gene), whom she married June 9, 1948; a daughter, Janet M. Turner of Amherst; two sons, George E. of Ashtabula and Jerry H. of Mayville, N.Y.; two sisters, Maralee E. Gruey of Alliance and Marguerite E. Graff of Conneaut; and two brothers, DeStewart E. Gruey of Conneaut and Jack J. Gruey of Erie; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Sara Mae Gruey, in 2000; and a brother, Carl Gruey, in infancy.
Graveside service is 11 a.m. Saturday in Glenwood Cemetery, with her brother-in-law the Rev. A.K. Graff officiating.
At her request, no calling hours will be observed.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the United Church of Christ or to the Conneaut Rescue Squad, Station 3. Envelopes will be available at the service and at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has charge of the arrangements.
